Robert J. Girard Sr., 71, of Manchester, NH, died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Mr. Girard was born in Nashua, NH on December 6, 1934, a son of the late Rene and Irene (Beland) Girard and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was a US Air Force and a US Army veteran. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a patrolman with the Manchester Police Dept., he then worked for the Manchester Highway Dept. and most recently he worked in food service at Southern NH University. Mr. Girard was an avid Patriots and Yankees fan. He enjoyed all sports and he especially loved going to hockey and baseball games with his son Bob. Mr. Girard also served as the sports director and snowshoe coach for the Alpine Club in Manchester for several years.
He is survived by two sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister.
Following cremation, calling hours were on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry from 5 – 7pm. A memorial service followed at 7:00pm.
