Leona A. (LePage) Burba, 87, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Saturday, January 21 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Stanley B. Burba. Born in Madison, ME, she was educated in Maine and New Hampshire schools and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. Prior to moving to Green Harbor she resided in Stoughton for 26 years. Mrs. Burba was the Activities Director at Quincy Adams Nursing Home in Brockton before her retirement 15 years ago. She often opened the doors of her own home to the residents for cook outs and other social activities. She was also one of the former owners of the Lord Fox Restaurant in Foxboro. Mrs. Burba was very active in the Berwick Boys Foundation and was president of their Boosters Club. She was also a member of the Stoughton Women’s Club. Mrs. Burba also worked for Meals on Wheels in Marshfield, enjoyed working with the elderly, reading to the blind and volunteered with many other organizations over the years. In her free time she enjoyed painting, traveling and visiting her vacation home in New Hampshire.
Mrs. Burba is survived by her sons, James S. Burba, Sr. and his wife Joan M. of Stoughton and John T. Burba of Green Harbor, as well as her beloved grandchildren, John T. Burba, James S. Burba, Jr. and Jennifer L. Burba and her great-grandchildren, Joshua V. and Brianna L. Burba. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa Kittredge of ME and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelle and Bernadette LePage and her siblings Jermaine, Leon, Leonial, Aliceed and Louis LePage and Loretta Pinnette.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 25 at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
