Neil R. Fichtenmayer, 83, of Wareham died January 20, 2006 at New England Medical Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of Sally E. (Howe) Fichtenmayer.
Born and raised in Dartmouth, the son of the late Otto and Emma (Bauer) Fichtenmayer, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to Wareham in 2004.
Mr. Fichtenmayer was formerly employed as a Master Watch Maker for many years and co-owner of Smith & Neil's Jewelry Store in New Bedford and Wareham. During WW II he worked on the Coastal Watch Guns and Battleship Guns for the Military.
He was a member of the Pascamansett Masonic Lodge in New Bedford. Mr. Fichtenmayer was and avid bowler and golfer.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert N. Fichtenmayer, and his wife Karen, of Wareham; 2 daughters, Ruth A. Copley of Fall River and Karen E. Maglothin, and her husband Mark, of Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Irene Metcalf, Walter Fichtenmayer, Otto Fichtenmayer and Rudy Fichtenmayer.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, January 26th at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday, January 25th from 5-8 PM.
Interment Rural Cemetery.
