Obituary

Joao Paulo “John” Cordeiro, age 41, of Tewksbury, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 5, 2019.

Born in Cambridge on April 14, 1978, he was the son of Ana M. Melo of Tewksbury and Joao A. Cordeiro of Somerville.

In addition to his parents survivors include his sister, Sonia Cordeiro of Lynn; grandfather, Leonardo DeMelo of Somerville; step father, Thomas Platz; step mother, Dulcineia Cordeiro; step sisters, Michele Hansen, Tiana Antul, Glenda Pereira; step brothers, Sean Platz, Guilherme Pereira, and their spouses and children. John is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins here, in Canada, and in Sao Miguel Azores.

John was an active member of the Portuguese American Center in Lowell, MA.
A committed trumpet musician for the Portuguese Marching Band of Lowell. He enjoyed any opportunity to volunteer in his community and its festivals. John cared deeply for his family and friends. His beautiful spirit and love will live in our hearts forever.

Visitation hours are Friday, October 11, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Saturday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
