Obituary

SWANSEA - David “Chico” Fernandez ,76, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 peacefully at home. He was the husband of Rhea J. (Belanger) (Trottier) Fernandez for 51 years. Born in Fall River Ma. He was the son of the late Isabel (Raulino) Fernandez-Affonse and the late Manuel Fernandez and stepfather Antone C. Affonse.

He was a proud Veteran of the Navy and served aboard aircraft carriers. He was a lifetime member of the East End Sportsmen’s Club. A longtime associate of the Border City Club in Fall River. He was a distinguished mechanic first working at Quonset Point (helicopter repair). Then working as a mechanic/tech on knitting mill equipment working for Bristol Knitting, Bay Manufacturing, and Fall River Knitting Mills.

He was the brother of the late Louis Fernandez, the late Roland Fernandes and Theresa (Affonse) (Anger) Chabot of Swansea. His surviving children are Rhea J. Trottier and partner Paul Fournier of Swansea, Melissa A. Trottier of Fall River, Leo H. Trottier and his wife Patricia of Berkley, and Lance Trottier of Swansea. He left 7 grandchildren Meagan Trottier, Shayne White, Angus Riley, the late Melissa Jade White, Wyatt Trottier, Ryder Trottier, and Riley Trottier. He also had 4 great grandchildren Kiara Riley, Dante Manning, Kameron White, and Joshua Faria Jr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family was everything to Dave and he put them above all else which has built a strong foundation for the entire family.

Visitation will be at Manuel Rogers & Sons, Funeral Home, 1521 North Main Street Fall River, Massachusetts. On Tuesday, October 8th from 4-8pm with a service at 7:30 P.M.
