Mr. Kenneth B. Gibson, a resident of Medford, survived by his beloved wife Juanita L. (Josey) Gibson, passed away in Derry, New Hampshire on Monday, September 30, 2019. He was 68 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 11, 1951, he was the beloved son of the late Harold C. and Mildred (Edmondson) Gibson. Kenneth met his beloved wife, Juanita in elementary school when they were just 3 years old and together they had 14 children. A United States Marine veteran, Kenneth entered the military from Boston on July 30, 1968 and receiving his honorable discharge from Boston on January 16, 1970. Kenneth attained the rank of E-4 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal, for his exemplary service. In civilian life, Kenneth was employed for 30+ years by Local 4 working his way thru the ranks from an oiler to a professional crane operator. Mr Gibson did not stop there, his retirement days were spent as a dedicated Southwest Airlines employee for 16+ years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling playing basketball and spending time with his children. Kenneth was a man with great integrity and would always stand up for what was right. He lived his life striving to make a positive impact on those he knew. He will be dearly missed.
Kenneth is survived by his mother-in-law; Mabel G. Josey of Somerville and his loving children; Imani and her husband Kevin Harrison of Randolph, Kenneth Tayari and his wife Amanda C. Gibson of Taunton, Michael Javan and his wife Liofina E. Gibson of Dracut, Stephen Lael Gibson of Derry, New Hampshire, Laresa and her husband Chad Porter of Medford, Aaron D. Gibson of Manchester, New Hampshire, Alicia J. Gibson of Manchester, New Hampshire, Melissa R. Gibson of Novato, California, Jessica L. Gibson of Medford, Andrew Q. Gibson of Nashua, New Hampshire, Shawn S. Gibson of Derry, New Hampshire, Nathan D. Gibson of Derry, New Hampshire, Sidney J. Gibson of Dallas, Texas and Tabitha R. Gibson of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren are as follows: Andre, Justin, Samantha, Alana, Giavanna, Tyanna, Jaelyn, Jayce, Kai, Nylah, Jordan, Kiarra and Isaac, siblings; Harold and his wife Becky Gibson of Downers Grove, Illinois, Bruce Gibson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Denise Gibson of Downers Grove, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held in West Medford at the West Medford Baptist Church, 59 Boston Avenue, Medford on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours have been omitted. Interment, with military honors, will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery Cemetery in Medford.
