Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gerald Horne officiating. Mrs. Garren will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Dennie Waldschlager, Jr. , Ethan Waldschlager, Justin Waldschlager, Cody Waldschlager, Colt Garren and Cliff Cooper will serve as pallbearers.

Born February 2, 1934 in Amboy, Illinois, Mrs. Garren was the daughter of the late Clarence Lee Herbst and Hazel Kirtley Herbst. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Garren; one daughter, Julie Marie Allen; one grandchild; two brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.

Carol is remembered by family and friends as a loving, endearing person, whose smiles and hugs would share encouragement from the love of Jesus that was ever present in her life. She was proud of her children and always concerned for their safety, no matter how old they were. She enjoyed her birds and companion dog, Buddy. She never met a stranger and would give her last dime to help those in need. Carol and her late husband John W. could be found on most days along side their favorite fishing hole. We are saddened by her passing, but know her legacy will live on in the memories she gave to us. We love you deeply and will miss the smile and hugs that we were blessed to receive.

Mrs. Garren is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael and Barb Waldschlager of Belmont, Michigan, Dennis and Scarlet Waldschlager of Brighton, Missouri, Lonnie and LaVonna Waldschlager of Waycross and Neal Waldschlager of Fort Knox, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Rodney Cooper of Moultrie; twelve grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren.
