Obituary

CHICOPEE - David J. “Nappy” Fournier, 68, a resident since 1978 of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on March 27, 1951, a beloved son of the late Joseph N. and Jeannette (Houde) Fournier. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the former Hampshire College of Pharmacy in Willimansett. He was a registered pharmacist and last worked at the former Brooks Pharmacy which later became Rite-Aid on Allen and Cooley Streets in Springfield. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, traveling, coin collecting, photography, reading, and working tirelessly tending to his lush lawn. He was a die hard New York Giant’s fan. Most of all, he was a family man who truly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Denise R. (LaFlamme) Fournier. They were married on June 10, 1978 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and were blessed with over 41 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Jason D. Fournier and his wife, Channa, of Wilbraham, Joshua A. Fournier of Agawam, and Samantha N. Fournier of Chicopee; his two cherished grandsons whom he adored, Matthew B. Fournier and Jacob A. Fournier of Wilbraham; his four dear siblings, Robert Fournier of Worcester; Janet Plasse of Chicopee, Richard “Ricky” Fournier and his wife, Mary, of Jacksonville, FL, and Debbie Levy and her husband, Elliott, of Massachusetts; his best friends, Bill Parsons of Utah, Ed O’Connor of Hudson, MA and Dennis O’Connor of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Fournier and LaFlamme families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Ronald Fournier. He will also be sadly missed by his beloved feline companion, Onyx. A special thank you to Doctor Rosen and the staff at the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center, especially his nurses, Bonnie, Katie, Laura, and Cindy for their outstanding care, attention and compassion. David will always be remembered saying “Keep It Simple”. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
