Jesse Cleghorn, 81, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2006, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. Interment will follow in Arp Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Cleghorn was born January 17, 1925, in Irwin County, to the late Avery and Essie Parks Cleghorn. He lived in Irwin and Ben Hill Counties most of his life and was a former resident of Albany. Mr. Cleghorn was a Barber for forty years and a former employee of H.R. Kaminsky & Sons and the Fitzgerald Fire Department. He was a member of Arp Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Mildred Thompson Cleghorn, Fitzgerald; sons: Danny Cleghorn and Tommy Newton, both of Fitzgerald; daughters: Sandra Davenport, Leesburg, Carol Dusi, Rebecca, Kathy Bentley, Tifton and Florence Harper, Fitzgerald; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; brothers: Avery Cleghorn, Brunswick, Frank Cleghorn, Albany, Edward Cleghorn, Rebecca and Sam Cleghorn, Ray City; sisters: Dora Hal, McDonough, Martha Fletcher, Chula, Lucille Neisler and Wynell Oliver, both of Macon and Marie Cleghorn, Perry, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters.
