Obituary

Jean (Butterfield) Condito, 88, of Whitman formerly of Hingham and Dennis passed away on September 20th. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis T. Condito.

Born in Medford and raised in Hingham, she was the daughter of the late Clifford A. and Regina M. (Carroll) Butterfield and a graduate of Hingham High School.

Jean continued her education earning her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Boston University. For many years she had worked as a librarian in Weymouth, Dennis, Whitman and Abington.

Genealogy was her passion. She had become a “life member” of the Massachusetts Mayflower Society having proved her lineage to three Mayflower descendants; Thomas Rogers, Richard Warren and Isaac Allerton. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.

After her retirement she had taught Mah-Johgg, a Chinese tile game, at the Whitman Senoir Center and had enjoyed painting, knitting, reading and her computer.

She is survived by her son Michael Condito of Hingham, her sister Linda Novello of Medway, her granddaughters Christina Condito of Carver, Amanda Hiles of Middleboro, her grandchildren, Joseph Ellis, Preston Brody, Logan and Mia Hiles. She was the mother of the late Francis Condito, sister of the late Diana Flecher.

Family and friends are invited to attend her graveside service on Monday September 30th at 12:00pm in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
