Obituary

Martin J. Holland, a life-long resident of Medford, passed away on September 18 at the age of 91. He was the cherished son of the late Patrick J. and Mary Ann (Duffy) Holland. Martin was a graduate of St. Joseph School grades 1-9 and Medford High School, Class of 1946.

Martin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952 and was later transferred to the Army Reserves and honorably discharged in 1957. He was a loyal employee with the former A&P Food Stores for 43 years and helped manage many stores throughout the Boston area. Martin also worked for Cross Country Motor Club of Medford for 11 years and enjoyed tending bar part-time at the Medford V.F.W. Post #1012.

With an up-beat personality and a wry sense of humor, he easily acquired many friends throughout his life. Martin truly enjoyed and appreciated the simple joys of life; his work, family, friends and home. He will live on in their hearts forever.

Martin was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Driscoll) Holland and the devoted father of Shawn and Brian Holland, both of Medford, Gerard Holland of Plymouth and Patrick Holland of Winchester. He was the adored grandfather of Virginia, Melissa, Kelsey, Jessica and Tess.
