Mary Jo Benson Arrington, 85, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church with the Rev. John Sewell and the Rev. Edsel Young officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before service at the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Arrington will be laid to rest at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be meeting at 178 Wesley Rigdon Road in Tifton.
Jacob Arrington, Ricky Hill, Brandon Tucker, Thomas Hancock, Wendell Arrington, Richard Hill and Richard Robbins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Herby Benson, Darrell Benson, Wayne Benson, Gary Benson and Ricky Benson.
Born April 8, 1934 in Worth County, Mrs. Arrington was the daughter of the late Winfred F. Benson and Esther Sumner Benson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Arrington; two sons, Gerald and Dennis Arrington; five brothers, Eugene Benson, Marvin Benson, Dick Benson, Edgar Benson and Donald Benson; and two sisters, Merle Benson Underwood and Louise Benson Williams. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and loved being a “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She was an excellent cook, homemaker and a member of Pineview Holiness Baptist Church.
Mrs. Arrington is survived by one son and daughter-in law, Stevie and Susan Arrington of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and John Lipscomb of Chula, Donna and Richard Hill of Tifton and Karen and Randall Tillery of Tifton; daughter-in-law, Brenda Arrington of Tifton; one brother, Harold Benson of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Louise Benson; eight grandchildren, Brooke (Richard) Robbins, Thomas (Holly) Hancock, Ricky (Carrie) Hill, Amanda Hill, Brandon (Nita) Tucker, Kaylee Tillery, Stephanie Arrington and Jacob Arrington; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe and Brodie Robbins, Paige and Dakota Hill, Gavin and Rylan Hancock and Jackie and Morgan Payne.
