Rita M. Selvitella, a long-time Medford resident, died Tuesday at the Sawtelle Hospice House, Reading. She was 69.
Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late James and Adeline (Cardarelli) Selvitella. Rita lived in Medford all her adult life and worked many years as a medical insurance underwriter for New England Life. She was also an active member of St. Raphael Parish.
She was the beloved sister of Grace Ferreira and her husband William of Melrose, James F. Selvitella of Reading, Jeanne Abbott and her husband Arthur of Hamilton and the late Frank A. Selvitella and Joanne Desjardins. She was a dear sister-in-law of Bill Desjardins of Medford and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Rita’s name to the Sawtelle Hospice House of Reading, 320 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA 01867.
