Obituary

Jose Pereira, 85, resident of Fairhaven for 40+ years, formerly of New Bedford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 12, 2019. He was the husband of Noma C (Dulude) Pereira.

Jose was born in Falmouth and was the son of the late Damazo and Herminia Pereira, and sibling of Damaso Pereira, John Perry, Ella Roberts and Ronald Perry.

Mr. Pereira proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a BM3 Boatswain’s mate aboard the USS Monrovia. After discharge, Jose was employed for the majority of his career as a Local Union 33 commercial roofer, remaining an active and proud member until his passing.

He is survived by his wife Noma; his children, Tammy Pereira of Fairhaven and Steven Pereira and his wife Heather of Fairhaven; and his two grandchildren, for whom “Pepe” dedicated so much love, time, attention and care.

His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven at 10 AM.
