Obituary

WARREN ~ Louise H. (Santerre) LaRiviere, 95, of Warren and a former resident of East Springfield and Providence Place in Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, September 7, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Farnham, Province of Quebec, Canada on January 13, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Emile C. and Alberta (Fortin) Santerre. She was raised in Farnham, immigrated to the United States and lived in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, West Springfield and Springfield before moving to Providence Place in Holyoke for 10 years. She recently moved to her daughter’s home in Warren. Louise was a loving homemaker and enjoyed cooking, quilting, knitting, traveling and actively participated with the Hungry Hill Senior Center in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph A. LaRiviere who was Called Home on January 23, 1996; her loving daughter, Francine B. LaRiviere who was Called Home on March 19, 1962; her two cherished grandchildren, Joseph LaRiviere and Amanda (LaRiviere) Harrelson; and her 11 dear brothers and sisters. She leaves her five loving children, Normand O. LaRiviere and his wife, Sui-Le, of Olympia, WA, Denis L. LaRiviere and his wife, Mary Lou, of Brimfield, Serges Y. LaRiviere and his wife, Linda, of Shutesbury, Patrick A. LaRiviere and his wife, Judy, of Wales and Caroline C. Nofio and her husband, Martin, of Warren; her seven cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Danica and her husband, Vincent, Tanya, Jacob, Stacey and her husband, Matt, Patrick and his wife, Andrea, and Brandon; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Josie, Lucas , Brooke and Joseph; and her dear sister, Rita St. Pierre of Joliette, P.Q., Canada. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street, West Springfield, MA 01089. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Thomas Cemetery, 420 Kings Highway, West Springfield, MA 01089. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
