John T. Mousseau, Jr., 66, of North Smithfield, died Thursday, August 22nd in RI Hospital in Providence surrounded by his two children.
He was the former Executive Director of the RI Sports Council. In that role John was instrumental in putting the State of Rhode Island on the map for high profile, international extreme sports competitions (ESPN X-Games and NBC Sports Gravity Games). He loved all sports, but was most passionate about golf. John also worked with the RI Department of Health and the RI General Treasurers Office.
John leaves his mother, Jennie (Kociuba) Mousseau, and two children, Melanie Mousseau and her husband Derek Mann of Ponte Vedra, FL and Jonathan Mousseau and his wife Amanda of Jersey City, NJ, as well as three grandchildren, Mackenzie and Tyler Mann, and Jack Mousseau. He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Mousseau, Sr. in 1993.
His memorial was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
