Roy J. Porter
Retired Teamster for Local # 25

LOWELL: Roy J. “Skip” Porter, age 74, a resident of Lowell for over 25 years, formerly of Everett, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on September 3, 2019.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara L. (Surette) Porter, with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on September 26, 2019.

Born in Everett on February 24, 1945, he was the son of the late Roy J. and Mildred (Sullivan) Porter.
He was raised in Everett and attended Everett schools.

In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served with Company M 1st TNG Regiment at Ft. Dix in New Jersey.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Teamster’s Local # 25 for over 30 years.

Roy was a passionate Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots Football fan. In addition, he enjoyed playing cribbage at the Senior Centers in Lowell and Tewksbury.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Steven J. Porter and his wife Deborah of Hampstead, NH, and Roy J. Porter and his girlfriend Crystal Paquette of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Steven, Rachel, Erin, and Kara; his sister-in-law, Joan Porter of Saugus; one great grandson, Jackson; his best friend of 60 years James Hickey of Everett; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Roy was the brother of the late Gerald Porter, Patricia Doherty and her late husband Robert, and Carol Parent and her late husband Ernie.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 4-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by his memorial prayer service to be held at the funeral home.
