Obituary

Henry J. Grenier, Jr, 71, died Monday, September 2, 2019 in RI Hospital, Providence, after a brief illness.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Eleanor (Carroll) Grenier. He was raised in Providence and Scituate. He was a graduate of Scituate High School, the University of Rhode Island and the Stevens Institute, where he received his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Never married, Henry lived for and through his work. He travelled widely in his job as a field engineer for Lucent Technologies. He lived in Wales, Iceland and the Aleutian Islands, beside postings in the continental United States. Since suffering a stroke in 1997 which left him partially paralyzed and ended his career, Henry has resided at Cortland Place Nursing Home in Greenville.

Henry is survived by his sister, Claire Hebert of Greenville, his brothers, Peter Grenier of Pawtucket and Philip Grenier of Cheyenne, Wyoming, as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews scattered to the wind.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 6th at 11:00am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnum Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation respectfully omitted.
