Joseph M. Barry, 61, of Manchester, died January 17, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Manchester on January 26, 1944, and was the son of Joseph and Dallas (Seavey) Barry.
He was a graduate of Manchester Memorial High School class of 1962.
He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 and was a member of Manchester Post 79.
He had recently worked in Security, for the State of NH at the Health and Human Services Division.
Joe loved the sport of boxing and helped to organize the Fight to Educate event, which is held each year to benefit underprivileged NH children with educational opportunities. He was a volunteer with the Salvation Army, and the Gail Singer Memorial Racquetball Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Family members include his wife of 25 years, Noanie (Farley) Barry, of Manchester; 2 sons, Jonathan Starr, of Manchester, Darren Starr, of Berlin; a daughter, Joellen Barry, of Manchester; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Charles Barry, of Essex Junction VT; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Kristen Barry in 1991, and a sister, Sandra Swain, in 2003.
A funeral service took place in the funeral home chapel on Saturday January 21, 2006.
Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St., Bedford.
