Obituary

After a long heroic battle with Alzheimer's, Robert (Bob) Byron 85, of Whitman. passed away surrounded by his family on September 2,2019. Born June 22, 1934 to Daniel and Cecelia(Ward)Byron. He was raised in Gorham,NH and Quincy, MA. He was the 3rd of 6 children predeceased by his Brothers Joseph Byron of Salisbury, MA, James Byron of Pinehurst, NC and his sister Maureen Bennett of Londonderry,NH. He is survived by his sisters Teresa Duffee and CarolAnn Hennon of Lady Lakes, FL.

Bob is survived by his "beautiful bride of 61 years" Connie Byron. Their 4 children Daniel Byron of Brockton, MA, Stephen Byron of Webster,MA, Leeanne and her husband Richard Rienstra of Douglas MA and Scott and his wife Gina Byron of Hanson,MA. Their 8 Grandchildren Melissa Byron, Sean Byron, Jordan Byron, Brittany Kooienga, Bradley Rienstra, Kevin Rienstra, Scott Byron and Victoria Byron. Their 4 Great Grandchildren Sydney and Brooke Fuller, and Hayden and Alexander Kooienga.

He had a lifelong passion for country music, in the early year’s quahogging at the sea, and climbing Mt Washington to listen to the radio. Later in life taking vacations in the White Mountains with his family. He had a great love for gatherings in his swimming pool especially with his grandchildren. A longtime fan of Boston sports and Nascar races on a Sunday afternoon.

Bob served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for IUOE International Union of Operations Engineers; Safety Lines and St. Margaret's Church in Brockton MA. Later years he worked in the Whitman-Hanson Schools. Bob was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church in Whitman for over 55 years where, he volunteered as an Usher and Adorer. He will be missed by family and friends.

His services will be held on Tuesday September 10th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by at funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 11:30AM. Visitation will be on Monday September 9th from 4:00-7:00PM.
