Obituary


Janette Henrique Anderson of Provincetown passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on August 29th, after a courageous battle with cancer. In her passing, the community loses a valuable and beloved citizen and light.

Born on February 3, 1957, daughter of the late Philip and Mary Henrique, she was a direct Mayflower descendent and life member of the Mayflower Society though the Brewster and Hopkins line. She came from a long line of Provincetown merchants, and was born and raised in South Weymouth. She married the love of her life, Mark Brian Anderson, in June of 1992 and they celebrated a life together for 27 years.

After graduating from Weymouth South High School, Jan continued to earn her BA at Curry College. Jan and Mark worked and lived for many years in Orinda, California where they raised their two daughters. Later they enjoyed many of life’s adventures in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jan was a keen business woman, working with hundreds of companies over the years including many of her own. She returned to Provincetown in 2011 as an Inn Keeper where she ran Dyers’ Beach House with her beloved sister.

Jan is preceded by her late son Andrew. She is survived by her husband, Mark; two daughters, Cynthia Krebs and Susan Holt; three precious granddaughters, Elle Krebs, Reese Krebs and Ivy Krebs; her dear sister, Elizabeth Barilaro, 3 cherished nieces, 4 great nieces and nephews; and countless other treasured family and friends.

Entombment services are private. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown from noon to 2pm on Saturday October 5th.
