KENNEBUNK- Marilyn M. Ellis, age 79, loving mother, grandmother and devoted wife passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, 2019 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
She was born in Monticello, Maine on Sept. 26, 1939, daughter of the late Paul and Maxine (Bates) Miller. After graduating from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton, Marilyn went on to attend classes to earn her LPN certification.
She worked as an LPN at Madigan Hospital and later as a private duty nurse, all while raising her family with her husband Arnold.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Houlton, and enjoyed gardening, antiques, traveling, cooking and rug hooking. In later years, Marilyn and her husband Arnold lived in Ireland and London as part of Arnold’s career where they formed many lasting friendships. Her favorite places to travel were Italy and the Cotswolds in England.
She is survived by her husband Arnold Ellis of Kennebunk, ME; her children- Michelle Barron and her husband John of Portland, OR, Steven Ellis of Portland, ME, Daniel Ellis of San Rafael, CA, Margaret Churchill and her husband James of Hampden, ME and Mary Hughes and her husband Mark of Lakewood Ranch, FL; sister- Patricia Leveille of Bangor; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
There are no formal services planned. Celebrate Marilyn’s life by donating to Hospice of Southern Maine.
