Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Mary T. (Nault) Guertin, 91, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in the Borough of Manhattan in New York on October 16, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph H. and Juliette L. (Roberge) Nault. Her family moved to Holyoke where she attended the former Rosary High School. She later lived in Chicopee where her family owned and operated the former Fireside Restaurant at the corner of Meadow Street and McKinstry Avenue in Willimansett. Mary was last employed for over 25 years at the Country Trading Post on Burnett Road in Chicopee. She was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett where she volunteered at their weekly bingo game. She was currently a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald R. Guertin who was Called Home on September 9, 1958. She leaves her three sons, Mark Guertin and his wife, Nona, of McMinnville, TN, Richard Guertin and his wife, Deborah, of Merced, CA and Drew Guertin and his wife, Ann, of Chicopee; her four daughters, Donna Provost and her husband, Steve, of West Springfield, Candace Bates and her husband, David, of Agawam, Janice Miller and her husband, Dennis, of Palmer and Denise Guertin of Chicopee with whom she lived; her sister, Doris Nichols of Ludlow; her two brothers, Frank Nault and his wife, Doris, of West Springfield and William Nault and his wife, Martha, of Holyoke; her 19 grandchildren; her 21 great grandchildren; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Guertin and Nault families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Suzanne Stotek who was Called Home in 2007; her two sisters, Claire Berridge and Rita Hoag; and her brother, Raymond Nault. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. Prayer Service at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
