New Bedford- Lucia Crovello, 89, of New Bedford, died peacefully at home, August 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Bedford, first generation, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Correia. She was the widower of Lawrence Nelson.
Lucia was extremely compassionate and loving, her family was her world. One of the very few women to graduate from college in her generation and worked in New Bedford School Department for her whole career. Lucia loved to cook for her family. She was an avid sports fan, her favorite teams being the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and The New England Patriots. She had an extreme knowledge of politics and loved a good debate. Lucia relished in her quiet moments of reading and doing her crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her seven children, Ruth Peterson, Patricia Donovan and
spouse Michael Donovan, Jane Crovello, Robert Crovello and spouse Lori Crovello, Mary-Beth Crovello, David Crovello and spouse Teri Crovello and her youngest daughter and caregiver Katherine Reynolds and partner Steven McKay. Her grandchildren, Beth Peterson, Dennis Crovello, Kate Liberty, Jennifer Szabo, Danny Reynolds, Billy Vogt, Amy Sylvia, Kelsey Vogt, Mitchell Sylvia, Kenny Borges and Sam Reynolds-McKay and beloved grandson, Thomas Reynolds, who she will be united with again. Great Grandchildren, Danika, Patrick, Emilia, Anna, Nicholas, Vivian and Caroline and her Grand-loves Jack and Benjamin Bergeron. Her devoted cousin Rev. Edward Correia of St. Michaels Church, Fall River.
