Obituary

Howard H. Ogert, 84, of North Scituate died peacefully August 17 at his home surrounded by his family, friends and loved ones. He was the son of the late William Ogert and Nellie (Blake) Ogert of Williamstown, MA. Howard was a Korean War veteran serving with the United States Army.
He earned an Associate’s Degree and an honorary Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Wentworth College and also attended North Adams State Teachers College, the University of Rhode Island, University of Massachusetts, Connecticut State Teachers College, Quinebaug Valley Community College, and Eastern Connecticut State University.
His diversified career portfolio included: Teacher, Wentworth College; Electrical Engineer and Product Representative, C.I. Hayes and Dixon Corporation; Vocational Education Teacher, Norwich Regional Vocational Technical School.
He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge #9; American Legion Post 152; the Veterans of Foreign War; Wild Turkey Federation; and founding member of Scituate Archery Club and Scituate Jaycees.
Howard was an avid deer/turkey hunter and fisherman. His greatest passion was loving the people who shared his life’s journey and relating stories about that journey to any and all who would listen.
He was predeceased by his wife Carol (Hemenway) Ogert; their son Jeffrey Ogert; his brothers William Ogert, Kenneth Ogert, John Ogert, Nelson Ogert, and Sidney Ogert; his sisters Dorothy Gove, Eleanor Kemp, Ruth Ogert, Betty Poirot, Carroll Smith, and Helen Fisher. He is survived and loved by daughters Debra Arnold (Russell) of Jackson, Maine and Holly Weidele of North Scituate, Rhode Island; daughter-in-law Margaret (Donath) Ogert of North Scituate, Rhode Island; brother Francis Ogert of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren Laura Weeks (Brian), Lindsay Anderson (Brian), Valerie Hanson, William Ogert, Renee Keane (Kevin), Heidi Weidele; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation Thursday, August 22nd, 4-7 pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Funeral service Friday, August 23rd, 11 am in the Greenville Baptist Church, Greenville. Interment will be Saturday, August 24th at 10 am in the Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to VFW Post 4908, 1035 North Road, Killingly, CT 06243.
