Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Edward J. "Ed" McNulty, 84, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, August 17, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on April 27, 1935, a beloved son of the late Edward J. and Katherine (Cavanaugh) McNulty. He was raised in Holyoke and graduated from Holyoke High School. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from American International College in Springfield. He was the owner and operator for many years of New England Fish & Chips on High Street in Holyoke and the former owner and operator of Bess Eaton Donuts on Memorial Drive in Chicopee and on State Street in Springfield. In his younger days, Ed was often seen on the baseball diamond playing a sport that he truly enjoyed and later was an avid golfer. He was a hardworking man but, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family and his many customers and friends. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Loris A. (Desnoyers) McNulty. They were married on June 25, 1960 at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving sons, Michael E. McNulty of South Hadley, Edward T. "Ted" McNulty and his wife, Patricia, of Hopkinton, MA and Brian E. McNulty and his wife, Kyounghee, of Devens, MA; his three cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Joseph, Allison and Ryan McNulty; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the McNulty and Desnoyers families. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
