CHICOPEE – Rita P. (Kieffer) Belden, 93, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 15, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 2, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late George Kieffer and Charlotte M. (Sperle) Kieffer. She was last employed as an office supervisor at Hapco Auto Parts in Holyoke. During her leisure time, Rita was an avid card player and was always ready for a good game of canasta. She was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Edward Connelly, James Pollard and William Belden. She leaves her three loving step-daughters, Mary L. Cardinal and her husband, Armand, of Chicopee, Joyce Carrington and her husband, Roger, of Chicopee and Susan Johnson and her husband, Robert , of Springfield; her three cherished step-grandchildren, William P. Cardinal, Steven Carrington and Lynn Allard; and her two cherished step-great-grandchildren, Jennifer L. Cardinal and William P. Cardinal Jr. Her family would like to thank her many caregivers over the past few years for their love and support to Rita and her family. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, August 23, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee Falls, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
