Beloved father of Luz Maria Cetina of Chelsea, Jorge Luis Pagan of Puerto Rico and the late Josefita Camacho and Jose Antonio Pagan, Jr. Dear and loving brother of Samuel Pagan and Sol M. Carlo both of Chelsea and the late Mercedes Cordero and Julio Pagan. Cherished grandmother of Fidel, Aqueelah, Teresa, Angelo, Jr., Anel, Julissa, Jerry and Dariana and great grandmother of Raimez, Ayeshia, Jason, Isiah, Elias, Jr., Jaiden, Esdra, Isiah and Jonah. Lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Thursday morning, January 19th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, CHELSEA at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with a Graveside Service in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Arlington, New Jersey on Friday morning, January 20th at 11:30 AM. For those attending the Graveside Service, the funeral procession will leave the Smith Funeral Home on Friday morning at 6 AM.
Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico in 1931, Jose passed away at the Changing Seasons Health Care Center on Elm Street, Everett where he and his sister, Mercedes, who passed away in October had been a residents receiving supportive care.
Coming to the United States when he was 24, first settling in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas, he worked for a number of years at the General Motors production plant in New Jersey.
Prior to his returning to Puerto Rico, for 10 years he worked at the Soldiers Home as well as at the Cottage Manor Nursing Home on Shawmut Street in thier housekeeping departments. Just under six years ago he returned to Chelsea to be closer to his daughter, Luz.
