Obituary

NEW BEDFORD — Thomas Marginson, age 94 years, of New Bedford, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Annie (Wooler) Marginson.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Thomas E. and Elsie (Moxham) Marginson, he was a retired Lt. in the New Bedford Fire Department. A veteran of WWII, Tom proudly served his country with the Navy SeaBees in the South Pacific.

A love of learning and history led Tom to earn an AB degree from BCC. He enjoyed N.B. High School sport events with his friend Dennis. Tom was a lover of dogs and had many over the years naming each one Winston.

He and his wife travelled extensively. Family gatherings, especially with his grandson and great grandson, were special to Tom. He will be remembered as a generous and compassionate man and was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Tom is survived by his son Thomas J. Marginson and his wife Kathleen, grandson Jonathan E. Marginson and his wife Danielle and his great grandson Benjamin Thomas Marginson. He was father of the late Melissa Ann Marginson, brother of the late Donald Marginson and the late Joan (Marginson) Hall.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 16th, at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford, from 5-8 p.m. His service will be on Saturday, Aug. 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
