SWANSEA – Gregory J. Moniz, 52, lifelong resident of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the comforts of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Fall River, he was the beloved husband of Cheryl (Monico) Moniz and the son of Richard Moniz Sr. and the late Joyce (Almeida) Moniz.
Greg worked as a Custodian for the Fall River Housing Authority and previously for Clifton Nursing & Rehab Center. He was a 1985 graduate of Joseph Case High School, loved listening to music, playing his drums, camping with his family & friends, and doing lots of cooking. Most of all, Greg loved to spend quality time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include his daughter: Alexa Moniz of Swansea; his step-son: Mark Savastano (wife Monika) of Dartmouth; grandchildren: Greyson and Aria Savastano; siblings: Richard Moniz Jr., Patricia Moniz, Kendell Moniz-Amaral (husband Joseph), and Shannon Moniz; a niece: Tonya Moniz-St. George; a nephew: Mayson Amaral; and a great-nephew: Anthony Davidson.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions May be made to the Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, c/o Nicole Podkowa Fund, 363 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720. Checks may be made payable to "SOUTHCOAST CENTER FOR CANCER CARE", please include "Nicole Podkowa Fund" in the memo area.
Greg’s funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday, Aug. 17th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Vinnicum Rd., Swansea. Calling hours on Friday, Aug. 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
