Obituary

…Formerly of Lowell
St. Petersburg, FL – John Anthony Lange, age 61, died Sunday morning, August 11, at the home of his daughter in Hudson, NH, after a courageous one year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
John was born in Malden, one of six children of the late Curtis and Phyllis (Carpenito) Lange, raised in the Belvidere section of Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1976.
He began his career with Wang Laboratories on North Street in Tewksbury, and in 1993, after moving to St. Pete, became a foreman in home construction. He recently retired as Superintendent from Land South Construction Company in Florida.
John remained a passionate fan of New England professional sports while living in Florida, and was active in the Knight of Columbus in St. Petersburg. He made an annual Pilgrimage to “Creation Fest” a Christian gathering in Pennsylvania with his dear friend Chris Foster of PA. John’s favorite activity was spending Saturdays at Billy’s Barber Shop in St. Pete, with his best friend Billy Hume. Billy and his family have been at John’s side throughout his year-long battle for his life.
He leaves a beloved daughter, Kristen Sheri Lange and her sons, Anthony Lange and Nathaniel Lange and his daughters companion Kristen Brois and her daughter Savannah all of Hudson; his siblings, Richard Lange of Boynton Beach, FL, Mary Jo Crowder and her husband Jeff of Cocoo, FL, Michael Lange of Lowell, Robert Lange of Plaistow, NH; his former wife and friend, Karen Hastings and her husband Scott and their children, Alec and Johnathan all of Hudson; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends in Massachusetts and Florida whose lives were touched and made better by their association and friendship with John; and was predeceased by his brother, David Lange.
Visiting hours Thursday, August 15, from 4:00 until 7:00 in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Friday, Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 are encouraged.
