Obituary

Salem: Lillian A. (Brillant) Gagnon age 93 of Salem, died Sunday morning at the Lafayette Convalescent Home in Marblehead. She was the wife of the late Frank H. Gagnon. Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Anna (Guerrette) Brillant. She, at one time, worked for the former Pequot Mills and the former CBS Hytron in Salem. At the time of her retirement in 1970, she had been employed by the United Shoe Machinery Corp. of Beverly for many years. With the exception of a brief period of time in the 1960’s, Mrs. Gagnon has been a resident of Salem for most of her life. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish and member of Les Dames de la Ste. Famille of that parish.
She is survived by 2 sons: Robert R. Gagnon of Salem, F. Kenneth Gagnon and his wife Lena of Beverly, 2 daughters: Diane Y. L. Backry and her husband S. Michael of Danvers, Doris I. LeBlanc and her husband Ray of Salem, 1 sister: Shirley Blanchette and her husband Arthur of Beverly, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 6 sisters: Ida Coogan, Irene Donahue, Yvonne Brillant, Dora Juralewicz, Rachel Bedard & Anna Dube.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Thursday, January 19th at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem, [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Wednesday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
