Johnnie V. Silva, 55, of Taunton formerly of Norton Died unexpectedly on Saturday January 14, 2006 at The Morton Hospital in Taunton after being stricken ill at home. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J.(Fischer) Silva to whom he was married to on November 25,1983.
Born in Brockton,Mass. On December 18,1950 he was a dear son of Constance A.”Connie” (Rei) Silva of Norton and the late John V. Silva who died on July 11,1999.
Johnnie was educated in Norton schools. He served in The United States Army during The Vietnam Era. He most recently was employed as a Forrest Fire Fighter for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He had formerly worked at Valentine Tool & Stamping,Inc. in Norton and as a truck driver for The Lorousso Corp. When he was younger he was both a Norton Firefighter and a Norton Police officer.
He was a member of The Taunton V.F.W. A true outdoorsman his passion in life was hunting. Johnnie’s family will always remember him for his independence. He had lived in Taunton for the past year and was formerly of Norton for most of his life.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by 2 daughters Stephanie Dec of Rhode Island and Meredith Silva of Attleboro. 3 sisters June M. Oliveria of Norton
Deborah A. Mitcham of Plainville and Mary R. Kuplast of Norton. Also survived by his grandson Griffin Dec as well as many aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours,to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Wednesday January 18th from 6-8 P.M. at The Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St.(Off Route 140,Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Funeral services will be private with burial to be held at a later date at the Timothy Plain Cemetery,Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Johnnie’s family has requested that donations be made in his memory to The American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham,MA 01701-4688.
