Obituary

Rita Ann (Whalen) Walsh, 92 , of East Walpole died August 4 in her home. She was the wife of the late James G. Walsh, Jr. who died in 1991.

Born in Cambridge, April 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Cashman) Whalen, Mrs. Walsh was raised in Somerville and had lived in Braintree and Weymouth before moving to East Walpole 13 years ago.

Rita had been a bookkeeper for a law firm for many years before retiring. She enjoyed playing bridge, making fudge, and had been an active volunteer at all the churches she had been a member of.

She is survived by her children, James G. Walsh and his wife Lucy of Westford, David Walsh and his wife Lynn of Brewster, Christopher Walsh and his wife Jan of Westford and Ann Mari St. Germain and her husband John of East Walpole.

She was the sister of the late Katherine Hill, Marie Fayen and Daniel Whalen.

Rita is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Nardozza and her husband Jason, Jonathan and Patrick Walsh, Taylor and Christa Walsh, Abigail, Brendan and Ryan Walsh and Alison, Rachel, Michael and Nicole St. Germain. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 9 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 9:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church 176 Washington St. East Walpole at 10:00.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
