Obituary

TRINGALE, Domenic, Anthony, of York Beach, Maine (formerly of Billerica, MA).

After a very happy, fun-filled, and content life, Domenic passed away on August 4, 2019. He had recently celebrated his 43rd wedding anniversary with his wife, Lorraine Gardocki, his own 70th birthday, and the birthdays of his precious grandchildren, Arya (6) and Desmond (3).
Domenic was the son of the late Vincent and Lena (Manganiello) Tringale of Medford, MA, where he was raised in his Grandmother Agatha’s house along with his four sisters: Agatha Cardillo of Tewksbury, MA, Patricia Sinopoli of Tewksbury, MA; his beloved sister who predeceased him, Ann Marie Mottola, (husband Armando) of Medford, MA; and Sandra Monteforte of Everett, MA. But it was not just parents, four sisters, and his grandparents in the house; there were also ten aunts and uncles! Needless to say, Sunday was a feast day at the Tringales, and Domenic became quite a good cook. Often Domenic and his family would travel to the North End of Boston to be with the Manganiello side of the family for family visits too. His childhood was shared with over 50 first cousins and many friends.
After five years of marriage, Domenic and Lorraine joyously welcomed their first child, Vincent (of Lowell, MA), who is now married to Jennifer (DuLong); and they have two children, Arya and Desmond. Two years after Vincent’s birth, a beautiful baby girl was born, Mary-Theresa (of Portland, ME); and then they had their baby, Thomas (of Billerica, MA). All three children were exceptionally loving, and generous with their time, in caring for their father during his last months. Domenic taught them all to ski, play soccer and basketball, enjoy tent camping and the beach, and to simply be nice, decent people. He also was fortunate to have many nieces and nephews in his life.
Every winter Domenic built a sled run along the side of the house that drew many neighborhood children to the yard. He was a youth soccer coach and Treasurer of Billerica Youth Basketball for many years, and he also operated the concession stand every Saturday during the long winter youth basketball season. He enjoyed playing tennis or golf before work with his friend and coworker, Mike, as the sun was rising. When he was very young, his Godmother, Auntie Rose, gave him his first model train car; and over his lifetime he acquired quite a collection. Sailing on his Uncle Charlie or Uncle Richard’s boats was always a grand day.
Commercial fishing was the family business, and Domenic worked on his father’s boat, the Agatha Patricia, during the summers while attending Boston College where he earned a degree in Accounting. This led to a Civil Service job with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where, through dedication, honesty, and likeability, he received many promotions, without donating or knowing a single politician. He also received a Master’s Degree from Northeastern University in Public Administration. His final position, before retirement, was Chief Financial Officer at the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. Several years ago, he and his wife moved to York Beach, Maine, where the family had vacationed for many years at the cottage of their friends, Jan and Phil Rowley.
There will be a celebration of Domenic’s life on August 22 at 4 p.m. at Polcari’s Restaurant, 309 Montvale Ave, Woburn, MA. It will be followed by a sumptuous buffet Italian meal; exactly what Domenic would have enjoyed sharing with his family and friends who were so generous with their visits and love during the past seven months.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating in Domenic’s memory at the websites of either the JT Fortin Foundation for Autism, the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, or the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. These organizations were chosen to honor Domenic’s sister, Ann Marie, and some of his other loved ones: Marilyn Lawless, George Fortin, Joe Hayes, and Stevie Hansen, who left this world before Domenic.
