Leona C. (Brunette) Lavoie, 95, of New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth, died Sunday January 15, 2006 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Philip E. Lavoie, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Chartier) Brunette, she lived in New Bedford for many years. She moved to Dartmouth in 1982 where she lived until returning to New Bedford last year.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.
Mrs. Lavoie was formerly employed as an inspector at the Acushnet Company Rubber Division until her retirement.
She was a member of the Legion of Mary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking cookies and making donuts. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudette E. Manning of New Bedford; two sons, Philip E. Lavoie, Jr., and his wife Irene of Dartmouth and Dennis R. Lavoie and his wife Leona of Attleboro; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was grandmother of the late Claudia E. Manning, mother-in-law of the late Richard J. Manning, and sister of the late Olive Larrivee, Florence Almo, Anita, Henry, Pete, Victor, Leo, Arthur, Alfred, and Albert Brunette.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday January 20, 2006 at 10 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday January 19, 2006 from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
