CORNISH- Claire D. Scott of Cornish, Maine, born to Albert E. and Grace
Putnam Day December 28th, 1933, passed away July 25th, 2019 at the age
of 85 surrounded by family. A wife of 66 years, one of eight siblings,
and mother to five sons, she was predeceased by her son Roy, grandson
Zachary, and siblings Richard, Beverly, Malcolm, Charlene, Alan, and
Larry. She is survived by her husband Robert, four sons Eugene, Duane,
Frank, and Neil, several grandchildren, and her brother Gerald. Claire
graduated high school in 1951 and later married Robert S. Scott in
1953; together they enjoyed raising their family on their small farm
in Cornish. An artisan of country living, her interests included
gardening, canning, sewing, and reading. She held several jobs within
the community including positions at Cornish Dress Company, the US
Postal Service, Vulcan Electric, and The Bag Lady. Claire never cared
much for travel or large crowds and considered her farm and family
life as near to perfect as anyone could wish for. Until she was no
longer physically capable, she loved having all her boys and their
families up to the farm for Sunday and holiday dinners. She will be
forever remembered by those she loved and those who loved her. A
graveside service will be held for family at a later date.
