Obituary

Annie J. (Blackstone) Lawton, a 49 year resident of Somerville and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at The Courtyard Nursing and Care Center in Medford. She was 84 years of age.

Annie was born in Boston on August 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Wesley Blackstone and Marguerite (Rainey) Blackstone. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Annie has been a homemaker most of her adult life caring for her children and their families. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and bowling in her spare time but most importantly in her life was her family and the special moments she was able to share with each one of them.

Annie is the devoted mother of James E. "Red" Lawton Jr., Robert Lawton and the late Wesley Lawton and Jane McCann. She is the loving Nana to Crystal, Jessica, Leesia, Sean, Joshua, Cory, Timmy, Adam, Jamie the late Jamie and her great-grandchildren Tayla, Jacob, Annabeth, Nora, Paul and Brody. She is the wife of James E. Lawton. She is the mother-in-law of Janet Lawton. She is the beloved sister of the late Marguerite Hughes and William Blackstone. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Annie's Funeral on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Service in St. John's Episcopal Church, Devens St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
