Obituary

Maurice A. Pichette (April 28, 1939 – July 15, 2019)

Maurice “Moe” A. Pichette, age 80, of Acton, MA, died peacefully at home Monday, July 15, 2019, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Maurice was born April 28, 1939 in Windsor, VT, the only child to Amie and Nellie (Gaudreau) Pichette.
He spent his younger years in Windsor with fond memories of skiing down cow hill, playing in the cemetery, square dances in his basement and other activities with his closest friends and classmates. He graduated from Windsor High School, Class of ‘57.

Maurice attended University of Tennessee (UT), taking a break from his studies to serve his country in the US Army, where he was stationed in Italy from April 1962 to January 1964, and then returned to graduate from UT in June 1965 with a degree in engineering. He met his lifelong love, Betty Bramlett, his first year in college and they married after his graduation in August 1965 in Knoxville, TN.

From college, Maurice accepted the position of Field Service Engineer with Hazeltine Corporation (military electronics) in Greenlawn, L.I., NY. He and his wife spent nine years on Long Island, living in Northport, Huntington Station and Huntington. They were fortunate to be matched with a beautiful child, Monique, whom they adopted in October 1970.

Maurice accepted a Principal Engineering position with Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA and moved his family back to his beloved New England in September 1974. He retired from Digital in June 1992. In his early years of retirement, he started an independent consulting company, Optimized Personal Computing, where he optimized computers, created and hosted webpage’s for individuals and small companies. He took great pride and pleasure in hosting and updating the website for his Windsor High School, Class of ‘57. In his later retirement years, he drove a special needs van for C.A.S.E. (Concord Area Special Education) in Concord, MA and was devoted to his special kids.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Bramlett) Pichette, their daughter, Monique Pichette Houde; his two grandsons; Robert Joseph Loder and his fiancée Andrea Linnus, Derek Allen Houde; and his great grandson, Dexter Joseph Loder.

Maurice’s final wishes were to be cremated, with no service, and have his remains sprinkled in the Windsor, VT cemetery where he played as a child. Donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice organization that provided care and comfort to him and his family during his last days: Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923, or online donations at www.CareDimensions.org.
