Obituary


Armand V. Caraviello, age 82, of Ogunquit, Maine and Naples, Florida, passsed away peacefully, July 12, 2019. He was the beloved husband to his wife of sixty years, Tudie (Ward) Caraviello. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Contrada) Caraviello.

Armand was raised in Medford along with his seven brothers and sisters. He graduated from Medford High School and The University of Massachusetts. He also received a graduate degree from Umass and an advanced graduate degree from Boston University. Armand was an educator and a coach. His football teams at Xaverian Brothers High School and Medford High School were excellent, winning three separate state championships along with numerous league titles during the course of his coaching career. He is a member of the Massachusetts State Football Coaching Hall of Fame as well as a member of both the Medford High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Xaverian Brothers High School Athletic Hall of Fame. His educational career included positions as a Physical Education instructor, Adjustment Counselor and ended with him serving as the Director of the Curtis/Tufts Alternative High School in Medford.

Armand was passionately committed to the success of his students and players. He treasured those relationships, many of which were sustained throughout his entire life. In retirement, Armand enjoyed many rewarding years golfing and socializing with his close friends at Cape Neddick Country Club and Foxfire Country Club.

In addition to his beloved wife, Tudie, Armand is survived by his three sons, Jay Caraviello and Tammy Falvey of Medfield, MA, Michael Caraviello and his wife, Susan, of Wellesley, MA and Chris Caraviello and his wife, Dianne, of Cape Neddick, ME; daughter in law Kim Caraviello of Andover, MA; grandchildren, Peter Caraviello and his wife, Morgan, of Portsmouth, NH, Jillian White and her husband, Peter of Andover, MA, Van Caraviello of Los Angeles, CA, John Caraviello of New York, NY, Anna Caraviello of Wellesley, MA, Natalie Gomez-Martinez of Goshen, NY, and Ommel Bonilla of Methuen, MA. He is also survived by his brother Richard Caraviello of Malden, MA. In the final years of his life, Armand found renewed joy in the presence of his four great grandchildren, Emilia, John and Rosie White and Ford Caraviello. Armand felt blessed to be surrounded by his loving family.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday, July 18th, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 12 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Armand's memory to the York Hospital, Loving Kindness Way, York, ME 03909.
