Joaquim "Quim" Neves, 86, of New Bedford died Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Marianna S. (Pina) Neves.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Francisco and Maria Louisa (Gonçalves) Neves, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Quim was a member of the Bisca Tournament Club.
He enjoyed playing the drums and maracas.
Suriviors include his wife; two sons, Francisco J. Neves and Evo M. Neves; his daughter, Kathleen A. Ramos; his siblings, Francisco Neves, Ivo Neves, Eva Neves, Enriqueta Neves, and John G. Neves; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Antonio, Candida, Manuel, and Louis Neves.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
