Obituary

Vincent J. “Vinny” Colella 80, of Franklin, died peacefully, at his home, with family at his side, Tuesday July 9, 2019, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Beals) Colella, who died in 1995.

Born August 8, 1938, in Dedham a son of the late Vincent J. and Mary F. (Scarcella) Colella, he was a longtime Franklin resident.

He was raised and educated in Dedham, and until his retirement several years ago, he was the owner of V. Colella & Sons Trucking.

A proud American, he served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in July 1956.

Vinny treasured time spent with his family and friends. He enjoyed being on his farm raising his animals and horses, camping, antique cars, NASCAR racing, and listening to Italian and Country music.

He is survived by his children, Vincent J. “Vinny” Colella and his wife Deborah of North Carolina, Barbara L. Dadmun and her husband Chris of Plainville, James M. “Jimmy” Colella and his wife Carol of Franklin and Linda M. Pagden of Florida, a brother John “Jack” Colella of Franklin, sisters, Lee Westhaver of Florida and Grace Ann Colella of Franklin.

Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Vinny was the brother of the late Adam Colella, Bernardo “Benny” Colella, Frances Boudreau, Mary Joyce and Louise Herrick.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Friday July 12th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. at 12Noon.

Interment will follow at Center Cemetery, Wrentham.

Calling hours are Friday from 10AM-12Noon.
