Obituary

John F. Malone, Sr., “The Commander” 83, formerly of Atwood Avenue, Johnston died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence. He was the husband of the late Carolin E. (Carnevale) Malone. They had been married for 57 years at the time of her death in 2014.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Clement H. Malone Sr and the late Margaret (Sharvan) Malone. He had been a resident of Johnston before moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida. He had served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War.

John was a Firefighter for the Town of Johnston serving as a Lieutenant before retiring. He also was the co-owner with his wife of the former Malone’s Green Acres in Johnston. He was Past Commander of the VFW, Lymansville Post 10011, a member of the Smithfield Lodge of Elks, BPOE#2359 and a member of the Cranston Fish and Game Association.

He is survived by his children, John F. Malone, Jr. and his wife Christine Whitney of Duxbury, MA, Patrick M. Malone and his wife Kim of Louisville, KY and Colleen E. Ball and her husband Randy of Cranston and his grandchildren, Sarah and Christen Malone and John Riccitelli. He was the brother of the late Clement H. Malone, Jr. and Mary E. Maher.

His funeral service will be held Friday at 10:45am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. . Burial will be in RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held Friday morning 9-10:45am. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904
