New Bedford – Antoinette L. (Rosa) Rego, age 92, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of her second husband, the late Manuel M. Rego, as well as, her first husband, the late Lionel S. Calouro.
Antoinette was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Jose Eugenio and Maria D. (Couto) Rosa. She had worked as a Parent Coordinator at P.A.C.E. Head Start Program for 34 years.
She is survived by her children, Anthony Calouro and his companion, Sharen Kentner of Palm Harbor, FL, Amelia Hardy of Acushnet and Bernadette Giusti and her husband, Robert of New Bedford; loving sister, Elaine Magan and her husband, Manuel of Fairhaven; grandchildren, Stephanie Gonsalves, Christine Pino, Matthew Calouro, Edmund Tweedy and Bryan Giusti; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as, several nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Scott Zychowicz.
Antoinette’s visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will be Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
