Obituary

HOLDEN – John “Jack” R. Schuster, 52, of Maple Street, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nanci J. (Bishop) Schuster of Holden; three daughters, Angela L. Leroux of Norwich, CT, Kara L. Marcel of Holden, and Jacquelyn L. Schuster of Holden; father, Gene P. Schuster and his wife Ruth of Illinois; his mother, Shirley A. (Lewandowski) Fisher of Illinois; a brother David J. Schuster and his wife Lori of Illinois; two sisters, Lisa A. Gustafson and her husband Mark of Minnesota and Lynne M. Schuster of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Ethan Leroux, Emma Leroux, Abbie Leroux, Benjamin Leroux, Ruthie Marcel, and Connor Marcel; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Gregory A. Schuster who died in 2006; and a sister, Laura J. Carlstedt who died in 1987. He was born in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Lane Tech in Chicago. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Schuster was an electronics technician for Mood Media for many years. He was Commandant of the Marine Corps League – Worcester Detachment, and proudly served 2 tours during his service with the Marine Corps. Jack enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and spending time at his favorite place – the cabin in Minnesota. He loved a good boat ride, whiskey, and a cigar. Most important in his life were his grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, VA. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 10, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. at Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Detachment Marine Corps League, 181 Lake Ave., Worcester, MA 01604.
