Christine A. Verdone passed away peacefully on Tuesday night. She was 73. Born in Manhattan she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Kalis) Cugliata. A Medford resident for most of her life, Christine grew up in New York City and she and her husband Giovanni recently retired to New Hampshire. She worked for five decades with her family operating the famed Verdone’s Pizzeria in Malden.
The beloved wife of Giovanni Verdone, she was a devoted mother to Anthony Verdone and his fiancée Ellen McGaffigan, John Verdone and his wife Jeanette, Loreal Verdone and her fiancé Patrick Richardson. She was a loving grandmother to Anthony, Erica, Olivia and J.T. as well as a loving great-grandmother to Gianna. The dear sister of Frank Cugliata and Karen Ryan, she was the sister-in-law of Frank Verdone and his wife Linda and Teresa Buccheri. Christine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, July 9th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Monday 4 - 8 PM.
