Obituary

Ruth Norma (Chambers) Hoag, 93, a lifelong Needham resident, died suddenly Jan 11, 2006 at her home.
Born in Needham she graduated from Needham High School in 1931 and Burdett College in 1933. She joined the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church in 1923 and was a third generation member of the church. She also served on the Bethany Group of the church, the United Women’s Organization and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. At the time of her death she held the longest membership in the church. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and volunteered at the Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham and the Wrentham State School and the Medfield State Hospital. She was also a member of the Glover Memorial Aide Assoc.
Wife of the late George W. Hoag, she is survived by her son Ronald W. Hoag and his wife Holly Mathews Hoag of Grimesland NC, her grandchildren Wesley and Drew Hoag of Grimesland NC, her sister in law Naveta Walker of Needham and her nieces Carol Rivoire of Antigonish Nova Scotia and Sharon Hebert of Needham.
A funeral service will be held on Sat Jan 14 at 10 AM in the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church 800 Highland Ave. Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at Needham Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Fri from 4-7 PM.
