SACO- Vera Mason Fortin, age 65, formerly of Baldwin, passed away on July 1, 2019.
She was born in Portland on July 3, 1953, a daughter of the late Albion and Betty (Sawyer) Mason.
She attended Baldwin Consolidated School and graduated from Sacopee Valley High School in 1971. Afterward, she went on to graduate from the University of Maine at Orono.
Vera will forever be remembered for her love of horses. She was a well-known sulky racehorse trainer who trained many award-winning horses and was very involved with harness racing events. She also enjoyed crafts, birds and 4-H activities.
Besides her work as a trainer, Vera worked as a florist for Larry Taylor for many years.
She is predeceased by her sisters- Roselie and Dorothy.
Vera is survived by her daughter- Heather Fortin of East Baldwin; and grandchildren- Kyleigh
Elizabeth Truman and Rayah-Joy Rosaleigh Shaw.
