Manuel F. Pereira, 70

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Manuel F. Pereira, age 70, of Taunton, passed away in peace, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the beloved husband of Susana M. (Machado) Pereira, to whom he was wed for thirty years.

Born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal on February 28, 1949 he was loving son of the late Manuel C. and Valdomira (de Jesus) Pereira.

Manny grew up and was educated in Portugal. In 1978, he moved to the United States and settled in Taunton where he has proudly lived ever since. Mr. Pereira was a hard worker and loyal provider to his adoring family. Following thirty-four years of faithful service, Mr. Pereira retired as a metal fabricator for Wollaston Alloys in Quincy.

A communicant of Saint Anthony’s Church in Taunton, Manny also belonged to the Taunton Sportsmans Club and was an avid soccer fan. He enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening, especially tending to his grape vineyards. He will be sadly missed by his family who loved him dearly and his granddaughters who were the apple of his eye.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Phillip Pereira and his wife Rute
Of Taunton, Samantha Ryan and her husband Danny of Taunton, Jonathan Pereira of Taunton and Alexander Pereira of Taunton. He was the cherished grandfather of Kimberly Pereira and Ella Ryan. He was the dear brother of Aurora Cordeiro of Canada, Joao Pereira of Taunton, Jose Pereira of Taunton, Maria S. DeSousa of Taunton, Margarita DeSousa of Rehoboth, Mario Pereira of Taunton and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will begin on Wednesday, July 3rd at 9:00 A.M. from the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home, 8 Crapo Street ( Off Route 140, Tremont Street) Taunton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Anthony’s Church, 126 School Street, Taunton. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home.
