Obituary

James C. Vallemaire, age 73, passed away on June 25, 2019 at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare Facility in Florida. He was born on June 18, 1946 in Colchester, VT, a son of the late Joseph H. and Leona Mary (Walker) Villemaire. James worked maintenance for UMass, Amherst for many years before he retired. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138 in Tampa, FL and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Castle of Knights Post #4044 in Chicopee. As much as he loved karaoke, the Marines, and his Hot Rod, nothing compared to being a family man. He loved and cherished being a husband, father and Pepere. He is survived by his Loving wife Pamela J. (Harper) Villemaire; 2 sons, Trent Villemaire of Agawam and Trip Harper and his wife Dominique of Chicopee; 3 daughters, Messina O’Grady and her Fiancé Shannon Riley of South Hadley, Leona Case of Holyoke and Sara Theroux and her companion Jeremiah Adkins of Chicopee; 1 brother Alan Villemaire and his wife Diane of Belchertown, 24 grandchildren and his beloved great granddaughter, Sophia. He is predeceased by his son Patrick Theroux and his sister Mary Lou Villemaire. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Military honors committal service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wonderfund to benefit children in foster care.
